Clarification on the API: data encryption and storage

bapuni.mca has asked some points about the API (originally asked here):

I have following points for clarification

1.Does the api stores any personal information anywhere from the request or response object of SMS service?

2.Setting of the data in the model specified are encrypted in nature to travel over network or the consumer of the services  need to implements their mechanism to secure the data.

If we need to encrypt the what mechanism we need to user here.

Clarification on the API: data encryption and storage

Hi bapuni.mca.

Sorry this took a bit longer than usual due to the details that needed to be gathered.  Hope the following answer clarify the details you are after:

1.Does the api stores any personal information anywhere from the request or response object of SMS service?

Yes, the destination address is stored for the purpose of retrieval of information.

2.Setting of the data in the model specified are encrypted in nature to travel over network or the consumer of the services  need to implements their mechanism to secure the data.

If we need to encrypt the what mechanism we need to user here.

Between a Developer Application ->  Messaging API -> Mobile network the following mechanism is used to securely transmit data:

a. Public REST interface secured by an API key + secret (you are aware of this)

b. HTTPS interface with TLS between app & API and API to the mobile network.

Should you need futher assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.  Happy to help!

Regards

Vinodh
