Potential Bug When Providing the From Parameter in SendMMS

Hi there,

I believe there is a bug with the SendMMS functionality when the "From" parameter is provided.

When sending a message crafted from the example here: https://dev.telstra.com/content/messaging-api#operation/sendMms a response is returned stating that the message delivery status is "MessageWaiting', however it never arrives.

If the "from" parameter is removed, the message is received within seconds.

I've tested via Postman and via the .NET SDK with the same results.

The value I'm providing for the parameter meets the requirements of not being greater than 11 characters and is purely alphabetical. This value works without issue when sending a regular SMS.

Thanks very much.

Example of a failing request:

{
    "to": ["+614xxxxxx"],
    "from""Sender",
    "subject""Subject",
    "replyRequest"false,
    "MMSContent": [{
        "type""text/plain",
        "filename""filename",
        "payload" : "test"
    }]

}

Example of a successful request:

{
    "to": ["+614xxxxxx"],
    "subject""Subject",
    "replyRequest"false,
    "MMSContent": [{
        "type""text/plain",
        "filename""filename",
        "payload" : "test"
    }]

}

Potential Bug When Providing the From Parameter in SendMMS

Hi Michael,

When using the "from" field as "Sender" - is the message sent to the handset? Could you please try this using your number as "to" field.

Regards,

Vinodh

Hi Vinodh,

Hi Vinodh,

No, the message is not received on the handset.

When I've been testing this functionality, I've been using our company name as the "from" (which works for us when we send SMSs) and I've been using my own mobile number as the "to".

If I omit the "from" parameter and send to my phone, the MMS is received.

Thanks,

Michael

Potential Bug When Providing the From Parameter in SendMMS

Hey Michael,

That's not an acceptable outcome.  I checked using my own keys re-using your message and I could receive the MMS in my handset with or without from "sender".

We may need to investigate this over e-mail and update this thread once resolved.

Potential Bug When Providing the From Parameter in SendMMS

Hi Michael,

How did you go with your attempt to send MMS to your handset using alphanumeric sender ID?

Also, while we were investigating another issue, we found that messages to vodafone were delayed and not delivered due to an outage on 9th April 2021.  Hope your message was not impacted because of that.

If you still feel there is something wrong with the MMS when using alphanumeric sender, we can investigate this issue, could you please share the messageIds along with date and timestamp?

Looking forward your reply!

Regards

Vinodh
