As we all do, we started out in IoT with Arduino devices, and then moved toward our own designs.
Can anyone answer what regulatory approval/registration would be required for:
- a) a commercial product using an imported MCU/modem board such as Arduino MKR 1500
- b) a commercial product that uses a a custom PCB with a socket for an imported modem board (we're using a breakout that carries a Simcom SIM7000E which I understand is already Telstra approved)
- c) a commercial product with a modem incorporated on its own circuit board?
Is there any difference between b and c? Basically, can one ride on Telstra's and the manufacturer's existing certification of the modem module, or is there extra certification required?
I presume case A is covered by whatever covers the arduino etc? I'm at case B right now and moving toward C.
The information I've found so far is:
Has anyone been throught the process of product certification? Time/cost? Did you use an agent?
